ISO Standards: The Road to Approval
Virtually every product, service and system has a standard at its core, with the term referring to a document that provides requirements, specifications, guidelines or characteristics that can be consistently used to ensure it is safe, reliable and fit for purpose. Standards are developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), an independent, non-governmental membership organization. The ISO has published in excess of 20,000 standards covering almost every industry. Suzanne has played a key role in the development of 7 standards. She’ll explore how a standard is proposed, the role of the Standards Technical Committee, and the final approval process.
